Senate Passes Amendment to Combat Climate Change - New York Times

Global warming? Exactly why is is bad?
And where does Chuck Hagel come off saying, "We all agree on the need for a clean environment and a stable climate."
Exactly when did we have an unstable climate? For Heaven's sake, we can't predict the weather, how can we conclude the climate is "unstable" versus its normal behavior?
